America’s Housing Crisis

The talk will address the causes of our housing crisis as well as the solutions and will be based on the book, Nowhere to Live: The Hidden Story of America’s Housing Crisis. The primary causes of our housing shortage include, 1) excessive fees and exaction, 2) environmental litigation, 3) rent control, 4) eminent domain abuse, and 5) exclusionary zoning. The solution is not more government controls, subsidies, or other market distortions. Instead, the solution is less government interference in the housing market.
